The PROGRAM


Integrated Farming


Focuses on the production of harvests other that that standard crops like vegetables, root crops, high value crops, fruits, fish, etc.. New effective environment-friendly technologies are applied and made available by different agencies in the country. Don Bosco links with these agencies to benefit the farmers. 

In seminars of a few days duration and thought demo farms, young people are motivated to learn to grow new farm products for sale or for the home consumption and use new technologies.

Don Bosco Expects a better use of arable land, including the backyard gardens to increase the quantity, quality, and variety of locally grown farm products.

Food Technology

Focuses on food nutrition and post-harvest activities, Through various seminars of a few days’ duration, young people are motivated to learn about nutrition, harvesting, food processing/preservation and even cooking.

Don Bosco expects to change the eating habits for a more balanced and healthy diet that is affordable to the family.

Related Skills

Is a 1 1/2 –year training program which provides an alternative to the agricultural courses for the youth of rural areas.

In the first General Electricity, the youth learn to install and provide maintenance to basic electrical wiring and repair household appliances.

Don Bosco expects that in that area a more competent technical service is made available and unemployment is reduced by the creation of small businesses.

Agricultural Mechanics

Is a 1 1/2 –year training course that will contribute to the process of mechanizing farm activities. Youth will learn to effectively operate, service repair, and maintain farm machinery and equipment. They will also learn basic agricultural Technology.

Through this component, Don Bosco expects an increased output of farm products in terms of quantity and quality in that region.

Entrepreneurship Support

Is assistance to small farmers or participants of Don Bosco Agro-Technology Training Programs for their livelihood projects. Possible fields of assistance could be: application of new appropriate techniques/technology; products development; creation of start-up business; marketing; and other similar fields.

In the Don Bosco Agro-Service Centers, farmers can rent farm equipment and service, buy farm raw materials at fair prices, avail of spare parts or have their own farm equipment repaired.

Don Bosco expects an increase of small businesses and in improved farm outputs of existing businesses in rural areas to benefit the surroundings.
